BIOGRAPHY
La Yeni’s mystical sound bloomed from many years of travelling, bred from a childhood of storytelling and a household full of music from around the world. La Yeni was born in Argentina, and lived in the UK, the US, Canada, and Spain. La Yeni has self-produced albums and singles of fresh and exciting fantasy music, using her serene vocals and beautiful harp and folk instrumentation to create a sonorous atmosphere. She artfully blends Irish Celtic music with new age and folk sensibilities, often described as “fairy music,” akin to the sounds of Loreena McKennitt, Enya, and Faun. Folk ’N Rock magazine dubbed her the “Beyoncé of the Celtic folk world,” as she delivers strong and spellbinding live performances.
La Yeni began studying classical piano at the age of three and started songwriting at the age of twelve. She continued writing, recording, and performing professionally throughout the Tri-State area of the States in her high school years. She recorded albums, live concerts, and music videos, writing in both English and Spanish. She has worked with Skip Drinkwater, Phil Nicolo, and Eric Bazilian, amongst others. La Yeni studied voice with Katie Agresta (New York) and received classical training. La Yeni not only plays harp, but also plays the harmonium, piano, lyre, mandolin, and Irish tin whistle as well.
La Yeni has composed music for both film and video games, including the award-winning series The Dream Series. She has also worked professionally as a dancer in a flamenco dance company and in a modern dance company, with her technique stemming from a life of a young ballerina, attending the prestigious National Ballet School of Canada. Her first album, Yarrow Under the Moon, received Best Debut Album from Folk ’N Rock, and the album also earned her a Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination for Traditional Singer of the Year (2024). Her sophomore album, All Hallow’s Eve, received Best Concept Album from Folk ’N Rock, delightfully described as a “cauldron of Celtic charms.”
You can find La Yeni busking at Vancouver’s historic Granville Island, performing at a myriad of fantasy events and private functions, or playing her original music at local venues. La Yeni is an ambassador for Plantwave, and Harpsicle Harps, and is an affiliate for Amazon. She is a big supporter of the Wolf Conservation Center in New York and the Pacific Wild Organization in British Columbia. She is a YouTube partner, and is currently working on a third album.
